Outside Influences.

A local politician is requesting that we write off a number of charges for a constituent that received treatment at our hospital. You understand that our patient did receive the services, but this elected official seems to be making a veiled threat if we will not cooperate. What do you say or do concerning this demand?

Questions of Ethics.

While speaking on the phone with a patient concerning her billing, you can hear in the background what sounds like a child screaming in pain, yelling, "Daddy no!" What do you say or do?

Service Challenges.

While processing a credit card payment with a customer on the phone, the computer suddenly shuts off. You cannot complete your authorization. What do you say to the customer and what do you do?

Four high school students are asking to be allowed to visit their tennis coach recovering in his room. You requested they wait while you check to see if he was willing to accept any visitors. While waiting they are making a nuisance of themselves and being noisy and disruptive. What do you say or do?

You are accepting a payment from a patient, when another woman requests you confirm an insurance payment has been received. While a manager serves this woman, you request that she step aside so you can finish serving the original customer. She does not move an inch. What do you say or do now?
